A Public Private Thank You

Dear You-Know-Who,

Today I received confirmation of the amount of compensation I will receive through AmeriCorps. I thought, “It really isn’t much, but we will make it do.” I made phone calls and did a bit of running about, all the while playing with the budget in my head. I’m a worrier, you see. I would never let my children play in the street, but I sometimes let my mind wander out there freely.

I do not know how to say thank you to you. I know you love words (and they love you back) because I have been privileged to read them and absorb them and fall in love with them. I am not as good with words as you, but these are the ones that came to mind when I returned home and saw what you had done:

stunned
flabbergasted
shocked
humbled
grateful
overcome

I would thank you publicly, but I understand you prefer to be anonymous to the rest of the World Wide Web. Nonetheless, I would like you to know how unexpected and deeply appreciated this was. I fervently hope the Universe is kind to you. Wherever me and mine are, you will always have friends there.

Always.

I think I’m going to go cry some more. Fear not, though: these are joyous tears. ❤

All My Love,
Jennifer

    • The person at whom this is directed is far more gifted with words than I, but I hope our heartfelt gratitude comes through.

Thanks, Tony. And yes, this was both unexpected and… wow. 🙂

  1. Congratulations to you, again, for getting that AmericaCorps gig that will do, Jennifer. And thank you from here to your helping hand, the one good with words, the Rabbi who chooses anonymity, for helping a good family in a pinch. Yes, thank you very much.

    • Thanks, Mark. It’s a terrific program, and I feel privileged to be selected. I’m so excited! 😀

As to my anonymous donor… let’s just say that there are some extremely kind and lovely people on this old world. It makes me glad to be here with them. I’m already looking ahead to the day when I will be able to pay it forward. 🙂
