This post is for Missing Peace, but it might help some others of you, as well.
Let’s say you are writing about something that happened to you yesterday, and it is related to something that you talked about last month. Or maybe you just want to bring new readers up to speed without having to repeat yourself to all the people who don’t require exposition. Well, just link to that past post, and your problems (the writing kind, anyway) are solved!
I know what you’re thinking. “That’s all well and good, Ms. Monsterful, but I don’t know how to do that!”
Tut tut. Never fear. I may not be good for much, but I can tell you how to link a post. Oh, yeah.
First, write the section of the post that you want to link to your previously written material. Then, highlight an appropriate word or phrase. Like this:
Next you want to click on the “Insert/edit link” button in the toolbar that sits at the top of your text field. Here it is highlighted in pink in the picture below:
A dialog box will pop up. Near the bottom you’ll see a drop-down menu that will allow you to easily find the post to which you want to link.
And don’t worry: you won’t have to scroll endlessly looking for the post you want. Just enter a keyword in the search field to help you find the one you want.
Click on the appropriate post, check the box to open the link in a new window or tab (or don’t), and click on the blue Add Link on the bottom right of the box.
And that’s all, folks! Easy as pie. 🙂
